El Dorado, Fractured Prune, G’D UP

Finally some time with my boyfriend! I realize i might sound a little pathetic or dependent on this person, but when he’s the only person I know as well as the person I’m used to being with 24/7, it gets a little rough when he’s gone for 5 days! This weekend is such a relief!

Last night, I decided I would take Phil to dinner in celebration of the end of the week so we went to El Dorado, the Mexican place we wanted to go to on July 4th. Well it was open last night, unlike the other time, and needless to say it was not as good as the Mexican food I’m used to. But, it wasn’t bad either… especially when you’ve been craving it for so long. I ate my leftovers today and they were yummy. El Dorado’s rice is a little different-tasting than most Mexican Restaurant’s rice, but other than that it was pretty much what one would expect from a Mexican franchise.

This morning before we ventured into the danger-zone that is Walmart, we went to another Brier Creek franchise for breakfast – “Fractured Prune“. Word was that this place had good donuts so we thought we’d check it out on this lovely Saturday. Go to this place. These “good donuts” are not your normal donuts – they are all cake donuts (which are good alone), but they have specialty selections such as “The Morning Buzz” and “The Strawberry Shortcake”, both of which were delicious. Phil got a Reese’s Cup one and man oh man they were goooooooood.

Last night, we went to Wes’ new house in east Raleigh. I met some new people, some of which Phil had met before, and we drank some beers. We taught them how to play “Zoo” and it was a lot of fun. Some of them wanted to go out so we let them lead us to a bar that they knew was down the street but had never been to before. This bar was empty. There was not a soul there but the sketchy owner who was drinking alone as he watched boxing. Oh, and he also owned the tattoo parlor that was connected to the bar. It was a bar/tattoo parlor in one. Probably not the best idea… but yeah both were dead and we left. I’m glad we went there though because I got to see something that made me laugh. The bar was also next to this store -

Yeah, that is a store. After we left this interesting yet sketchy-as-hell stripmall, we visited yet another trashy bar. This one at least had about 20 people, all of which seemed delighted to be participating in the weekly karaoke. I don’t hate on karaoke, as I sometimes participate myself within the boundaries of my living room but these people were trash, trash, trash. Most came alone and sang alone as well. We’ll see what happens tonight.

Tonight I’m going to make Granmam’s famous Taco Soup! Off to Lowe’s to get the ingredients!
